Chocolate poems (2024)

Conceptual artwork & installation of photographs and colonial artefacts, performance, printed matter

In 2024 the graduating class of BFA students at the Royal Institute of Art had it’s graduation show at Marabouparkens konsthall: The historic leisure park (now kunsthalle) which the factory workers used for recreational activities, until the Marabou factory moved location in the 1960’s.

For the exhibition, Chocolate poems (2024) became the context-specific conceptual framework through which global structures of capitalism and colonialism could be examined in relation to the individual. Works within Chocolate poems (2024) include: Marabou/Marabou (2024) a sculptural installation of Marabou cocoa tins from the 1920’s and 30’s altered with marabou stork feathers. The Mourners (2024), a happening and photo series taken of the artist's mother, father, and brother dressed up as mourners at a fictional funeral. A booklet titled Chocolate poems (2024) of three poems exploring a simulacra of a life lived as a factory worker at Marabou in 1916, as well as three accompanying performances.

In March 2026 by invitation of Teresa Margolles Chocolate poems (2024) was shown in Madrid as part of the Casa Juana residency.
